United Wood Craftsmen Gallery

Trish Kertes, of La Canada Flintridge, began her painting career with art classes in life drawing at Barnsdall Art Center.  Over the last twenty-five years her love of art has included painting in watercolor, pastels and oils. Currently she paints in oils, often, “en plein air” (painting in the open air).  Trish selects the elements of an alluring natural scene that best express the mood she wants to convey.  Nature provides the raw materials for this artist’s design on canvas. She must work quickly outside to capture the ever-changing effects of light. It is this creative process that Trish finds most rewarding and challenging.  She will often use her plein air works as a plan for larger paintings done in her studio. Her colorful painting style recalls the Impressionist painters and the works of the early California artists.

              Tim and Tamara Breunig of United Wood Craftsmen, discovered Trish’s oil paintings through her website 3 years ago.  Tim knew that Trish’s work would compliment the beautiful craftsmen furniture he creates.  He invited her to the United Wood Craftsmen gallery and a successful partnership was begun.  Tim and Tamara have introduced Trish’s work to their many clients and collectors.  In her visits to Big Bear, Trish has discovered the wonderful beauty found there and has been painting scenes of her new found love ever since.  Trish’s work now hangs in the gallery show room along with fine furniture and arts and crafts accessories.  Tim has created custom-designed craftsmen frames for Trish’s oil paintings, prints and giclees.

Trish is a member of the California Art Club, Oil Painters of America, and Verdugo Art Association who honored her as Artist of the Year.  Her paintings have won numerous prizes and are sold locally. Trish is a featured artist at Descanso Gardens in La Canada, exhibiting annually during the month of September.
