About Philip Gershwin and His Pens
I live and work in Ventura County, California. After 35 years of woodworking I fell upon turning only recently and fell in love. Each pen is unique, each one a careful selection of woods and hardware. The woods used are collected from various sources. Some I have harvested and seasoned myself, some gifted to me from friends abroad, some from more conventional places. They are sanded to12,000 grit, sealed with friction polish, and then covered with several layers of carruba wax. In some cases, with certain woods, I also use a CA sealer as well. Over time, based on your usage, the finish will wear off. You have two choices. Re apply the finish using normal furniture polishes. Or allow the pen to age with you like your favorite leather jacket. Protect your pen from extreme temperatures or sudden changes in temperature, which could cause the wood to crack.
