About United Wood Craftsmen | |
| Since the Late 1970's Tim Breunig has been designing and executing fine woodwork in residences. His early furnishings were exclusively custom pieces of modern lines, usually in white or red oak. Tim served an apprenticeship in a small cabinet shop during the mid 1970's where he developed his shop skills and learned cabinet lay out and preparation of shop drawings for production purposes. By 1985 Tim and his small firm were producing elaborate period interiors for expensive residences in exclusive California neighborhoods. Being so inspired by the simplicity and truth of the Arts & Crafts style as he developed the design for a Craftsman Style retreat and residence in 1996, Breunig has since devoted all of his commercial endeavors to hand crafting selected furniture pieces as originally manufactured at the end of the 1800's by names such as Stickley and Young. "Maintaining a strict adherence to the lines and practicality of function" is an important part of the mindset at UWC. "We shall really try to avoid designing Arts and Craft furniture, but simply focus on accurately improving the execution of pieces that function as well today as they did 100 years ago". Excellent joinery and uncompromising use of traditional materials will lend this furniture the usefulness it should have and the sturdy grace and beauty it was surely meant to. |
